World yoyo champion's choice. YoYofactory's Edge series yoyo recommendation

Wedge is a budget version of Edge - popular Evan Nagao yoyo. This throw is aimed mainly at people with low budgets or beginners, but it is also an excellent addition to almost every collection. (I own two of them)

It’s a plastic throw from YoyoFactory, with an aluminum center and fingerspin hub. I bought it because I wanted to learn finger spins; it’s straightforward. It’s plastic polycarbonate yoyo without CNC machining technology, but yet in hands, it feels very nice.

Pros:

• out of the box, it’s smooth
• stable yoyo with enough spin time, and it can go fast
• budget-friendly - 20$
• easy to fingerspin
• good starter yoyo for beginners
• a durable and suitable option for 5A

Cons:

• bearing seat, axle - once you unscrew it, the yoyo will have a horrific wobble vibe; you need to find the perfect position where it’s vibe free
• giant rims, the string is hitting those giant rims, and this causes an imbalance of a yoyo
• also, it’s pretty loud
• grinds are complex because of that polycarbonate

Edge Ultimatum is 6061 aluminum yoyo designed by Evan Nagao and one of the best mono metals from YYF. I don’t need to say who he is; everyone knows him. He is a Champion! This yoyo was made for one purpose. To be a wild animal, and it is. Yoyo is huge, very wide, and very light. Ultimatum cost around 50-60$, it’s maybe a little too much for 6061 Al, but it’s worth it.

Beadblast/Surface:

• classic YYF soft bead blast
• it has some nice minimalistic engravings, and some color combinations also have bimetal styling
• finger spins are effortless to do and grinds, too, because of that width
• the shape is sharp, so sometimes it can hurt

Feel on the string:

• this throws is just amazing, I don’t know how YYF did this, but man, it’s another level
• yoyo is light yet wildly, very long spinning
• it’s stable and excellent for horizontal, slack tricks
• tech tricks are a bit harder because of that wide shape
• yoyo is making a satisfying sound, and it’s a lot of fun
• out of the box, the binds can be slippery, so I recommend using fat strings

Smoothness/Vibe:

• it’s very smooth for YYF standards; out of the box, it’s around 9-10 smoothness (can be tuned)
• the quietest and smoothest yoyo from the edge lineup

Conclusion:

• if you like wide and big yoyos, this is definitely to go; it’s smooth, stable, and fun. Sometimes I don’t even hear and see if it’s spinning, and it comes to my hand fast when I bind it.
• the only downside is that it’s not pocket friendly; use the yoyo holder

The next edition to Evans Nagao’s line-up is Edge Infinity. The most potent yoyo among all edges. It’s 6061 aluminum yoyo with HUGE stainless steel rings. Edge Infinity is a novelty of 2021, worth an incredible 18 months of patient work, development, and testing. The Edge yoyo itself came out in several variations. Still, Infinity is the absolute top that takes the whole Edge line to a completely different level, and above all, it is one of the best yo-yos the yoyofactory has ever released, but it has its flaws.

Pros:

• very stable
• very long spinning
• very forgiving
• smooth bead blast
• perfect shape for finger spins and grinds
• very maneuverable and fast
• perfect size for small hands

Cons:

• it comes with a vibe (6-8); it can be tuned, but the axle is very tiny, and the bearing seat is loose, so you need to be careful
• very slippy pads
• not suitable for beginners, it has so much power, and it can be dangerous
• price is a little bit too much (around 120-130$)
• no NSK bearing

In conclusion, the yoyo is a beast; it’s a competition-oriented throw for advanced players who want the best. Yep, it maybe has some little problems, but after all, it’s one of the best yoyos on the market. It’s worth it. This throw was made for Champion, and the yoyo itself is also Champion.

Shape/Surface:

• smaller diameter V shape throw with more wideness
• yoyo has thick wide stainless steel rims that can hurt when the trick is messed up
• bead blast of aluminum is soft and grinds friendly
• very comfortable to hold, especially if you have small hands

Smoothness:

• out of the box, it has a fingernail vibe, but it can be tuned; it has a small axle like all edge yoyos, so be careful with it
• no vibe on string
• there are two versions; the older version had an NSK bearing and titanium axle, and it was much smoother
• now, it comes with standard CT bearing with a typicalaluminumm axle

General impression:

• If you are looking for a stable bimetal, Edge Beyond is one of the best options out there
• it’s small, fast, agile, maneuverable ,and perfect yoyo for every competition
• it spins forever, feels very smooth on the string, and looks beautiful
• I would recommend this throw only for advanced players because it has so much power,and it’s also less durable because of the vast SS rims

Cons:

2. No NSK bearing on the latest runs

4. To many vibes out of the box sometimes
