Appearance
As a demon, Akaza adopted the appearance of a tall, chiseled young man with bright green tints to his skin, which was ornamented with a pattern of thick blue lines that resembled the tattoos he had as a criminal. Akaza had short, bright pink hair fluffed out about his head, and his eyes, which tipped inward and had cracked-glass-like blue sclera and pink eyelashes, were yellow. He also has the characters for “Three” and “Upper Rank” engraved into his irises. One blue line ran from the middle of his hairline to the bridge of his nose, another ran through his eyes from below his ears to over his temples, two more ran around his neck, and three others branched from the lower one to his torso.
The three-line pattern was repeated around his waist as well. The center line ran directly down his chest to halfway down his stomach, while the other two branched off to the sides across either side of his chest to join the other two lines. Lines on his arms went from the front of his shoulders into two more, around his biceps, and then continued down to his wrists. Below his wrists, it was noticeable that each of his fingers was also dark blue with an orange fingernail and that his toes also had this unusual appearance.
Around his waist, the three-line design was also repeated. While the other two branched off to the flanks across either side of his chest to join the other two lines, the middle line ran straight down his chest to halfway down his stomach. On each of his arms, some lines curved around his biceps, around two more shoulders, and down to his wrists. Each of his fingers below his wrists was also dark blue, with an orange fingernail, and his toes, too, had this strange appearance.

Back Story
Before becoming a demon, his full name was Hakuji Soyama and changed his name to Akaza. He was a martial arts prodigy when he was a human, and he had a daughter named Koyuki. He received martial arts instruction from a man named Keizo. He grew up in an underdeveloped area.
Because Hakuji’s father was ailing, he turned to pickpocketing so his father could buy medicine. However, due to his actions, the magistrate referred to him as a “devil child” and tattooed him to show that Hakuji was a criminal.
Hakuji was alerted by a fellow student at the dojo. He shared that a rival dojo had contaminated the water. Koyuki and Keizo consequently became poisoned and passed away quickly. Hakuji was so furious that he used his fists to kill all sixty-seven other dojo members as payback.
Naturally, this attracted Muzan’s attention; at first, he thought it was a monster! Hakuji was transformed by Muzan into a demon, one of his Twelve Kizuki. Hakuji simply accepted it at this point because he had nothing more to lose.
Parts of his human memories continued to impact him as a demon even after he lost all memory of his previous existence. For example, he refused to eat or kill women even though he knew doing so would make him stronger. In his dying hours, Akaza demonstrated that he still had a great deal of humanity in him by choosing to accept his own death.
Personality
Akaza is a powerful, obstinate, and battle-obsessed Social Darwinist who loves to fight, particularly against powerful Demon Slayers. He deliberately prolonged battles to enjoy every second of them, applauding his adversaries when they used powerful techniques or struck him, frequently saying that their swordsmanship and methods were excellent and fascinating. Akaza had such a contemptuous attitude toward people who he thought were weak that it made his skin crawl. He demanded to know their names and would not stop until he did; as a testament to their fortitude, he remembers all the names he had committed to memory. However, he really respected those who were strong in his eyes.
In addition, Akaza offers those with strength the chance to turn into demons because he thinks that doing so is the right thing to do and because he is troubled by the deterioration of people who have been given extraordinary abilities as they age. If someone rejects his offer, he will even go as far as to kill them in order to keep their magnificent skill for himself. Akaza also doesn’t discriminate against great warriors who were weak before, as evidenced by the fact that Tanjiro Kamado received praise and compliments from Akaza despite how weak he was during their first confrontation. Akaza even went so far as to credit Kyojuro for Tanjiro’s development. Akaza adheres fervently to the Social Darwinist theory, which holds that all weaklings must be removed in accordance with the laws of nature.
Akaza did not get along with his fellow Upper Ranks since he saw them as his competitors and had a strong psychological urge to get stronger. He lashes out at Doma and makes threats to kill Kokushibo because he is especially hostile to and a little envious of the two Upper Ranks who are above him. He remarked that he must become the strongest no matter what, to the point of overcoming all demons’ shared weakness of being beheaded by Nichirin Swords through nothing more than sheer willpower and resolve. He did this despite being defeated and beheaded during his battle with Tanjiro and Giyu Tomioka. It was later discovered that Akaza’s obstinate and frantic search for strength was done in order to save his teacher Keizo and his fiancée Koyuki, as well as to heal his ailing father.
Power&Ability
Akaza, the third-highest ranking member of the Twelve Kizuki, is a very potent demon who has previously defeated Kyojuro Rengoku-the fire hashira in the episode of mugen train, also multiple Hashira, and a great number of Demon Slayers. In particular, Akaza’s martial arts prowess, which can surpass the swordsmanship of even the most accomplished Demon Slayers, and his sense of Fighting Spirit, which allows him to foresee his adversaries’ moves and identify their weak points, make him nearly unbeatable if they are unable to devise a defense against it.
Akaza has developed supernatural senses that allow her to perceive things that aren’t normally perceptible. In addition to being able to perceive the auras of both humans and demons, Akaza has a third sense that he refers to as the “Fighting Spirit”—a person’s desire to battle and their intention to kill. He can utilize this to determine a person’s strength or weakness simply by looking at them, foreseeing where and how his opponents will attack, identifying their vulnerabilities, and sensing their location within the surroundings. This enables him to respond to attacks from his blind spots.
Due to absorbing a significant amount of Muzan’s blood, which he continually displayed, Akaza has one of the most amazing regenerating abilities in the series. He was capable of quickly recuperating from cuts, both slight and severe, and even limbs amputated by his adversaries.
Demon Blood Art
Destructive Death: Akaza’s Blood Demon Art, which combines the control of shockwaves with the Soryu Style martial arts he learned while still a human, is based on martial arts. The shockwaves that Akaza controls are blue in hue and have a variety of shapes, including spikes that resemble cannons, nearly imperceptible air pressure, and circular shockwaves that reach energy. He can produce them at will, from any location, and it seems from any portion of his body. In battle, Akaza adds shockwaves to his punches and kicks to increase their devastating power. This also covers his blows in a faint blue glow.
Similar to the Soryu Style, Destructive Death is a bare-fisted martial art that makes use of the user’s arms and legs to execute quick and strong blows that are directed at the opponent’s neck and weapon. The Flame Hashira, Kyojuro, the master of the Blood Demon Art, was once able to crush Kyojuro’s left eye, ribs, and even internal organs with a barrage of tremendous shockwaves after being struck directly by them.
